We had been in Rogers, Arkansas for the weekend so that Billy could attend a National Guard officers' conference. He enjoyed the meetings, banquet dinner and pretending to be a bartender at the hospitality suite and Noah and I enjoyed ourselves in our Embassy Suites room. I had great visions of us strolling around the area (there's a Lewis and Clark outdoor outfitters a few blocks away!) and having lunch out and yada yada. However, it stormed all weekend and the little one was a major crankbutt that was not fit to be seen in public. Well, maybe he wasn't that bad. We do think he's teething because he ran a slight temp and is prone to fits of crying and stuffing his hands in his mouth.
This morning, Billy had to get up early to help clean up the hospitality suite and he brought back breakfast from the yummy Embassy Suites made to order kitchen.
I got a spinach and mushroom egg white omelette with a side of salsa and a banana:
Then we hit the road towards home.
Almost. I was still hungry (needed some grains!) and made Billy wheel through Einstein Bros (LOVE IT!), where we got 2 large cups of badly needed coffee and a fruit and nut powerbagel with peanut butter to share. YUM.
Yes, there is a bite missing and I had already spilled coffee on myself. Typical.
We got within an hour or so of home in Russellville and decided we should stop to feed the boy lunch. Now, Russellville is a perfectly lovely rural college town, but we are not familiar with it's healthy food offerings. We wheeled into a Cracker Barrel, but it was jammed full by after-church folk. We were about to resign ourselves to Subway when we saw a Mexican restaurant and thought, "Fajitas!" Healthy and there's a chance the boy might eat it!
Well, the food was terrible and he didn't eat a thing. I had two fajitas (chicken, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and guac).
I only ate a few bites of the beans. I was sure there was lard involved.
Back on the road. We finally made it home with Noah screaming bloody murder for the last 10 minutes of the trip. We put him down for a good nap, unpacked and had a snack of a handful of mixed nuts (forgot to take pics) and a container of soy yogurt. I don't ever buy flavored yogurt but Kroger doesn't carry plain soy and I was desperate. I ate about 3/4 of it.
Then we were off for a delicious dinner. I had big plans for the weekend to eat at Bonefish, which was across the street from our hotel. Didn't happen. So, Billy took us there tonight.
I started with their fabulous house salad. It may be my favorite house salad of all time. I asked for the dressing on the side, which didn't happen.
Sorry for the blur. I was attempting new tricks with my camera trying not to use my flash in the darkish restaurant.
I had one and half pieces of bread dipped in their yummy olive oil pesto blend:
Then grilled salmon as my entree with pan asian sauce on the side (I like to just dip my fork into it like salad dressing), steamed asparagus and succotash:
After dinner, we came home, bathed the crabby boy, read him a story and put him down for the night. Then I made myself a little dessert and enjoyed it on the back deck!

When we got home, a delightful package was waiting on us. It was a box of almond and peanut butter cups (dark chocolate) that I won in Meghann's Blogger Bake Sale. These luscious little treats came from Mallory at A Bacon Wrapped Life. Go there now for a pictorial recipe or for more info about how to bid on your own Mallory-made cups! OH MY!
Also pictured is a Divine Grape Kombucha that I got on my last Whole Foods trip. This stuff is good! And it really really really perks me up! Like I probably should have saved it for later, when the sun is up and not so close to bedtime! :) Also a tall glass of water, which is needed today as I'm feeling dehydrated.
Now I'm off to bed in a hurry. Too soon the alarm will be sounding the bell to get my buns out of bed and into my running shoes.
Happy Sunday!
